# BandUp Privacy Policy
Last updated: 5 July 2026
BandUp ("the app") helps you practise the IELTS Speaking test with an AI examiner. This policy
explains what data we collect and how it is used.
What we collect
Account data: an anonymous account is created when you first open the app. If you add an
email address, it is linked to that account so your progress is preserved.
Voice recordings: when you answer a practice question, your voice is recorded and uploaded
to our servers to be transcribed and scored.
Transcripts and scores: the text transcription of your answers, band score estimates, and
feedback reports are stored with your account so you can track progress over time.
Profile settings: interface language, feedback language, target band, and display name if
you set one.
How your data is used
Recordings are transcribed by an automated speech-to-text service and scored by an AI language
model. These providers process your data solely to provide the scoring service.
Your data is used only to provide app functionality (scoring, feedback, progress history).
We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
Storage and security
Data is stored with Supabase (hosted in the European Union, Frankfurt region).
Recordings and personal data are protected by row-level security: only your authenticated
account can access your own data.
Data is encrypted in transit (TLS).
Your choices
You can use the app without providing an email address.
You can request deletion of your account and all associated data (recordings, transcripts,
scores) by contacting us at the address below. Deletion is permanent.
Children
BandUp is intended for IELTS candidates and is not directed at children under 13.
